P. Allen Smith Hosting Garden Bloggers Event in April

Written by Jackie D'Elia  |  Published on March 29, 2011

You may have noticed the Garden2Blog logo in the sidebar on my blog. Some of you may have even clicked on it. If so, you already know about the exciting event that will be taking place at P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home Retreat at Moss Mountain Farm in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the end of April. This event is by invitation only and is sure to be buzz of garden bloggers everywhere.

P. Allen Smith is a gardener whose love for gardening led him to a career in design and host of his own television show, P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home, shown on PBS. He makes regular appearances on NBC’s The Today Show. He’s also the author of several books on gardening and garden design (I can’t wait to see how he has incorporated his 12 priniciples of design at Moss Mountain Farm). From the photos I have seen (see below), this will be inspiring.

Not to mention, he writes cook books too! I just received a copy of his recent release, P. Allen Smith’s Seasonal Recipes from the Garden. The recipes look scrumptious. Beautiful book with mouth-watering photographs and grouped together by seasons. What a great idea.

Garden2Blog is going to be a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and not just talk about trends and ideas, but also establish an ongoing dialogue of information-sharing within our industry ~ P. Allen Smith.

20 garden bloggers from across the U.S. and Canada will be hosted by Allen for two days in Little Rock (and yours truly will be attending). We will tour gardens he designed, and spend a day at his 500+ acre Garden Home Retreat. They have lots of activities planned for us. I hope they are not going to ask me to build three more raised beds! That took nearly 3 days even with Lowe’s cutting the wood for me. Please let me know if I need to bring my DEWALT drill. 🙂

While I have not meet any of the other bloggers in person yet, I have a feeling there will be good conversations, interesting topics, and lots of garden antics. We’ll also spend time some with his partners such as The Berry Family of Nurseries, Corona Tools, Proven Winners, Stihl, Garden Safe, and Bonnie Plants to name a few. I’ve used most of their products in my garden and respect their committment to quality. I am excited to learn more about their products.

I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Garden Home Retreat and getting to know individuals in the online gardening community. It’s such a creative and knowledgeable group coming to visit. I can’t wait to see what shakes out of our time together. ~ P. Allen Smith

I am so excited to be part of this event. It is an honor. Only 20 garden bloggers were invited and I have no idea what is in store… but I know I am going to enjoy being part of it. Here’s to new friends and adventures. Little Rock… here I come.

My biggest fear? I may not want to come home.

Watch for the pictures, videos, tweets and blog posts in April.
