Macro Monday: Gazing at Gazania

Written by Jackie D'Elia  |  Published on April 25, 2011

Gazania striped (Gazania rigens) is an exotic flowering annual. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. It is drought-tolerant which will be a big help this summer in Houston. Flowers close at night and sometimes only partially open on cloudy days. Available in assorted color mixes and I found this one just beautiful. First time in my garden, but I already find myself gazing at them frequently.

I love gazania, but rabbits do too. I haven’t grown it for a few years because of this. I could put it in pots on the deck I guess…

    Nice photos!

What a gorgeous flower – the colors and details of the petals are fabulous. Happy Macro Monday
